Speaker Test

Play a short tone on the left, right, or both audio channels. Check speakers or headphones, starting with your device volume set low.

Stereo channel check

Start with a low device volume. Each tone lasts one second.

How to Use Speaker Test

  1. Turn your device volume down to a comfortable starting level.
  2. Select Left, Both, or Right to play a one-second tone.
  3. Listen for the tone from the expected side. Repeat with the other channel.
  4. Adjust Tone level if needed. Select Stop to end a tone early.

What you can check

What your result means

The left and right options send sound to separate stereo channels. Both sends the tone to both channels.

If every option plays from one speaker, check mono audio and balance settings. Hearing a tone confirms sound on that route; it does not measure sound quality or hearing.

Helpful tips

The Tone level slider changes this page's signal, not your device volume. Keep both at a comfortable level.

If nothing plays, check tab mute, the selected sound output, and any speaker volume knob. Sound may be going to a Bluetooth headset or HDMI device.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use headphones?

Yes. Start at low volume and test each side. Use the headphone markings to check which side should play.

Why do both sides play during the left test?

Mono audio settings or your sound hardware may combine the channels. Check those settings before assuming a fault.

Does this use my microphone?

No. It creates a tone in the browser. It does not open or record from a microphone.

Will the tone keep playing?

Each tone lasts one second. Stop ends it early, and hiding the tab also stops playback.
