Mouse Polling Rate Test

Estimate how often mouse movement samples reach your browser. This five-second test cannot confirm the mouse's raw USB polling rate.

Move a mouse continuously inside the area during the run.

How to Use Mouse Polling Rate Test

  1. Place your mouse pointer near the test area.
  2. Select Start 5-second test.
  3. Move the mouse steadily inside the area for the full run.
  4. Read the sample estimate and timing details. Select Stop to cancel, or start again to compare.

What you can check

What your result means

Samples per second estimates how many movement updates reached the page during active movement. The median interval is the middle gap between accepted samples.

The browser may group several movement updates into one event. Grouped samples are used when available. These results do not measure raw USB traffic or certify the mouse's advertised polling rate.

Helpful tips

Keep moving inside the area. Pauses longer than 100 milliseconds are left out; a run with too few samples gives no estimate.

Use the same browser, mouse, and settings when comparing runs. Check the configured polling rate in your mouse's supported software, if available.

Frequently asked questions

Is this my exact mouse polling rate?

No. The tool reads movement delivered to the browser. The system and browser can limit or group updates before the page receives them.

Why is the estimate lower than my mouse setting?

Sparse movement or grouped browser events can lower the estimate. Repeat with steady movement before drawing conclusions about the mouse.

Can I use a trackpad or touchscreen?

A trackpad may send mouse-type events, but its result is not a USB mouse rating. Touch input is excluded. Use the mouse you want to compare.

What does Too few samples mean?

The run did not receive enough usable movement intervals. Repeat with steady mouse movement inside the test area.
